May the Lord Renew Us for the Battles Ahead

Today will be our last broadcast for the summer. This will allow us to do some traveling and speaking around the state. The fellowship and renewal of friendships is a great time for me and my family and I’m looking forward to seeing some of you out there on the road.

Of course, important developments in the battle to protect God’s little ones will happen in the next couple months – and we will keep you informed of those developments through our website: Idaho Chooses Life. ORG.

I’d also invite you to use our toll-free number, 1-877-341-LIFE, if you’d like to schedule a speaker for your group, church or Bible study. We’ll see if it can work.

Thanks for your prayers and support. May the Lord richly bless your summer. We’ll talk again in September.

Buffet Fortune to Bear Evil Fruit

I’m sure you’ve already heard about the magnanimous gift by Warren Buffett to the Gates Foundation. He has reportedly donated some $30 billion to finance “good works” around the globe.

I don’t share the giddy with those leftist groups already counting the money.

The Buffetts and Gates are just the latest in a long line of capitalists who seem to seek some kind of human redemption at life’s end. And, like Rockefeller and Carnegie – these two are committed to solving social problems through human engineering and population control. Gates and Buffett are long-time backers of Planned Parenthood. Buffett is the man most responsible for RU-486 and its introduction into American society.

I, for one, dread the evil fruits of this huge pot of money. Combined with Gates’ own fortune, it is impossible to foresee what kind of medical experimentation or social engineering may be brought to us and our children through this immense fund.

NOW Seeks to Punish Store Owner

Abortion activists in Olympia, Washington have threatened to stage a boycott against Thriftway food stores because the owner will not provide so-called “Emergency Contraception” pills in their drug departments. Owner Kevin Storman, when asked about the threat, said that offering the abortion pills is a “non-negotiable issue”.

Mr. Storman owns a number of stores in Olympia, including two Thriftway stores, a gas station and Bayview Catering.

The National Organization for Women is leading the charge, hoping that it can mobilize hundreds of locals into punishing Storman and his employees for taking a moral stand.

You can email this stand-up guy: Kevin@stormans.com. Let him know you appreciate his values and placing lives ahead of a dirty buck.

Idaho Democrats Declare War on Idaho Values

Idaho Democrats have once again gathered to set forth their principles. It is already clear that they are more captivated by self-congratulations and approval from each other, their little band of left-wing believers, than they are in serving the families of Idaho.

Even before the campaigns begin, the Platform reaffirms their support for abortion-on-demand. They call it “choice” because it is impolite to talk about killing babies in the womb. Makes people uncomfortable.

They also declared their opposition to the Marriage Protection Amendment. Not even the leftist Democrats running in liberal Michigan were so brash and ideological when faced with a similar situation two years ago.

Set aside principle for a minute. How can they seriously ask to represent Idaho families in the Legislature and Congress when they open the campaign by denigrating the values of 70-80% of Idahoans?

Our point is not merely that Idaho Democrats are being politically unwise: The attack on preborn children and families raises serious questions about Democrats’ understanding of our basic governmental system. A person asking to serve his or her neighbors in the Legislature is going there as a representative; hence the title. Obviously Democrats will, if elected, not seek to represent those basic values. They prefer to lecture us about how small-minded and backward we are.

Handicapped by such arrogance, Democrats will continue to be largely irrelevant.

Who Parents Our Children?

What damage does Planned Parenthood do to our children?

A story from Rochester, New York reveals some of what goes on around us. All too quietly.

Imagine. A mother received a call from the neighborhood pharmacist explaining that he had just given her daughter emergency contraception pills. The mom immediately went to find her daughter, to find out what was happening with her. “Where did you get a prescription for these pills?” The girl, just 13 years old, told her mother that the school nurse had given her the prescription.

The mother stormed into the school, demanding answers. There weren’t many. Turns out the school has a Title X “health clinic” inside – with the authority to distribute pills and condoms to girls over 12. Welcome to the future.

Mrs. Thomas talked with the press: “The school is not going to put clothes on her baby’s back if she gets pregnant. That school is not going to feed and taker her to the doctor, that’s going to be me.”

Colorado Legislator Challenges Planned Parenthood “Party”

A rather extraordinary thing happened on the floor of the Colorado House last month. The Legislature was scheduled to vote on a resolution honoring Planned Parenthood’s 90th anniversary of operating in that state. A pro-Life leader in the House decided that members should have an opportunity to confront Planned Parenthood’s handiwork before they congratulated America’s biggest abortion merchant.

Rep. Ted Harvey asked special permission to have Gianna Jessen open the day’s session with a powerful rendition of the nation’s anthem. Her performance moved legislators into singing with her.

Later in the day’s session, the good representative revealed to the chamber that Miss Jessen was an abortion survivor. The cerebral palsy which challenged her performance was the result of a botched abortion.

In Rep. Harvey’s retelling of the powerful story, he does not reveal whether the resolution honoring Planned Parenthood passed. Given Democrat control of the chamber, we are free to assume it did. But his essay does recount the tremendous peer pressure which came down on his head as soon as the full truth about Miss Jessen was revealed. The joy and congratulations which swelled around her as an over-comer swiftly dissipated into discomfort and anger. As co-conspirators with Planned Parenthood in producing Gianna’s condition, Democrat legislators were very uncomfortable being confronted with the humanity of their all-too anonymous victims.

The Denver Post apparently covered the story and interviewed Miss Jessen:

“We need to discuss the humanity of it. I’m glad to be able to speak up for children in the womb,” said Gianna. “If abortion is about women’s rights, where were mine?”

Louisiana Joins Movement to Ban Abortion

Governor Kathleen Blanco may not know much about preparing for natural disasters, but she definitely knows how to do some things right.

Louisiana became a leader in the battle against abortion-on-demand when Blanco signed a bill last week which would re-criminalize abortion in that state should Roe v. Wade be overturned – or if a constitutional amendment were enacted to protect human life. This so-called “Trigger Law” would allow abortions only to save a mother’s life.

Planned Parenthood of Louisiana issued a statement lamenting Governor Blanco’s decision, saying that the new law would “endanger women’s health by criminalizing abortion at a time when the state is still recovering from Hurricane Katrina and scrambling to prepare for the start of a new hurricane season.” (Source: LifeNews.Com).

Idaho once had such a law, but it was repealed by Democrat Cecil Andrus when he was governor in 1990.

Louisiana’s abortion ban is different from South Dakota’s, in that it would not take effect until federal changes permitted it. Nevertheless, it adds substantial weight to the national movement to end legalized abortion.

Abortion Industry Attacks Abstinence Programs

Planned Parenthood is leading efforts across the nation to shut-down government funding for any educational programs which stress abstinence. According to LifeNews.Com, they have been joined by some 200 organizations in a systematic attack on abstinence programs.

Planned Parenthood has actually labeled abstinence programs “harmful”.

Yet a study published by Adolescent and Family Health magazine in 2004 found that abstinence programs were primarily responsible for a substantial decline in teenage pregnancy rates among teenage girls.

So where is the danger? I believe it is the threat to Planned Parenthood’s profits which drive their irrational attack on encouraging children to abstain from premature sexual activity. But there is more: Abstinence runs counter to Planned Parenthood’s free sex social agenda for our children.

Pro-Lifers Win Big in South Dakota Primary

We continue to follow events in South Dakota closely, with the historic abortion ban on the ballot there this fall.

South Dakota recently held its own primary elections. Planned Parenthood and its friends in the abortion industry weighed in heavily to defeat pro-Life legislators. They were particularly invested in a race to support a pro-abortion Republican, Dr. Stan Adelstein. He was singled out by Planned Parenthood for its “Barry Goldwater Award”, a peculiar device to legitimize Republican politicians who oppose the party’s platform on protecting prenatal life.

Adelstein was defeated by Elli Schwiesow, an uncompromising defender of preborn children.

We are delighted to report that this man was defeated by a strong pro-Life Republican. In fact, not a single legislator who voted to ban abortions was defeated by Planned Parenthood or its liberal allies, despite intense and well-funded challenges.

This offers some strong encouragement as the ballot campaign intensifies.

Planned Parenthood Promises Electoral Vengeance

The head of Planned Parenthood Federation of America flexed her muscles last week, declaring that her abortion group will work overtime to elect pro-abort candidates this fall. (See CNSNews.Com for June 14, 2006)

“We’re going to channel our strength… our power… to help progressive voices win across America,” said Cecile Richards. She noted that Planned Parenthood has 860 death centers across the nation, and has more members, employees and staff than the 50 state Democratic parties combined.

“What are we going to do with our power? …. We’re going to use it!” she added.

No doubt Idaho’s Bill Sali will be one of her targets.

Her threat is a serious one; but it raises a lot of questions about Planned Parenthood’s special treatment by tax-payers.

Jim Sedlak of the American Life League correctly observed that Planned Parenthood’s promise to use clinics and staff would be a blatant violation of its tax-exempt status. And what of the millions poured into Planned Parenthood’s coffers by a Congress bent on supporting its radical social agenda?

Such questions abound: But you may be certain that neither Congress nor the IRS will even launch a serious investigation of this matter. After all, Planned Parenthood has been getting away with murder for years.

Senate Considers Lifting Bush’s Ban

The United States Senate is supposed to consider legislation this summer that would force taxpayers to finance expanded research using prenatal stem cells. The House of Representatives has already voted to overturn the President’s ban of such unethical research – largely because of a liberal press that continues to hype the possibilities for miracle cures.

But the facts are quite different.

We oppose the use of prenatal stem cells because it destroys a human life. But every taxpayer should be outraged at the prospective waste of tax money on boondoggles. Remember the exposed sham of the South Korean scientist who lied about his breakthroughs? He’s just been indicted on criminal fraud and embezzlement by the South Korean government – which poured millions into Hwang Woo-suk’s operation.

The fact is, no prenatal stem cell researchers have made an advance toward treating diseases. Researcher Steven Milloy (publisher of JunkScience.Com), argues that the great progress being made in other areas raises questions about pursuing prenatal stem cell research in the first place.

We urge pro-Lifers to contact Senators Mike Crapo and Larry Craig. They should be asked to oppose the funding scheme. Any money available for medical research should be targeted in areas that show real and effective promise.

Western Civilization Reaps Demographic Winter

Don Feder has written a powerful overview of western civilization as we face some of our greatest historical challenges. In short, we are self-destructing. The western world now must grapple with the reality of depopulation. Since the 1970’s, worldwide fertility rates have been cut in half.

Russia, a nation whose greatest strength once was its raw population, is losing 700,000 people each year. The government there is now trying to bribe people into having children, while tightening restrictions on abortion. Western Europe has been slower to recognize the grave threat to its economy and culture.

The selfish and anti-human agenda of the Left has borne much fruit. Feminism and abortion-on-demand have already wrought irreversible changes to our culture and America’s future demographics. Twenty five years from now, we will have a different kind of nation, one in which a majority of citizens will not share an ancestry rooted in the traditions and history of western civilization. It will be fascinating to see if republican institutions can survive such wrenching demographic changes.

Great Materials Available

I’d like to take this opportunity to let you know of some great materials we have available – all free of charge.

We have a pamphlet designed to inform pregnant women of the help available to them in finding an alternative to abortion. A list of clinics and pregnancy centers waiting to help.

We also present key information about the various procedures and the risks a woman should consider before she commits abortion. If you are dealing with a difficult pregnancy – or know someone considering abortion – please call us. 1-877-341-LIFE. Or send us an email: mail@IdahoChoosesLife.org.

And for our listeners in Southwest Idaho, we have prepared a pamphlet listing doctors involved in the abortion industry – and those who defend the sanctity of Life. That, too is free.

And if you’d like to help support this work – your donation can be made to Idaho Chooses Life, P.O. Box 8172, Boise – 83707.

Thanks for your prayers and on-going support.

Update June 7, 2006

When the Abortion Ban passed the South Dakota legislature, the leader of the Pine Ridge Indian Reservation announced that she would welcome abortionists to Indian land. They would be free to perform abortions from conception through birth.

She was way ahead of her people. The Tribal Council has since voted to outlaw abortions on reservation land. In addition, the council immediately suspended Cecelia Fire Thunder while they prepare impeachment proceedings.

There is no abortion facility presently located on tribal lands, so the ban does not have practical effect. However, it is a strong message to the Abortion Lobby. One of their key strategies after Roe is overturned is to seek asylum on tribal lands across the country, hoping to maintain a lucrative trade in human misery.

The action by the Oglala Sioux suggests that Native Americans will be sensitive to becoming host of America’s killing machine; there may also be an awareness of the role groups like Planned Parenthood continue to play in “ethnic cleansing”.

Another Study on Breast Cancer

In light of the recent storm at the Idaho Legislature, the release of a new study on breast cancer has particular interest for us.

The study comes from Germany, and confirms research first published by the World Health Organization in 1970: pregnancies reduce the risk of breast cancer – even for those women with a family history of the disease. The decrease in risk gets more substantial with the number of pregnancies.

The protective effects of pregnancy are not impacted by a miscarriage – but are by an artificially-interrupted pregnancy; which is to say, abortion.

This new data is based upon the patient histories of some 1600 women, and was conducted by scientists at the German Cancer Research Center. Researchers speculate that the protective affects may have to do with the fact that glandular cells producing milk mature only during pregnancy.

Rep. Bill Sali is to be commended for standing on the truth first taught in scripture: “Choose Life so that you and your child may live….”

Of course, truth is not a big obstacle to those in the Abortion or Cancer Research Industries. They will, no doubt, continue to down-play or disparage such research because it conflicts with their political or financial agendas.

If you would like more information about this issue, we’d be happy to provide you with a terrific brochure produced by the Coalition on Abortion and Breast Cancer. Just send us an email: mail@IdahoChoosesLife.org.

Abortion Lobby’s Eugenic Agenda Exposed

World Net Daily is reporting that very disturbing documents have been uncovered from the days of the Clinton Administration by Judicial Watch.

One letter, written to President Clinton by Ron Weddington, a leader of pro-abortion forces and husband of the notorious Sarah Weddington, urged approval of the deadly RU-486 drug. He wrote, “a new leader can start immediately to eliminate the barely educated, unhealthy and poor segment of our country.” He went on to argue that America was a much better place because of legalized abortion: “We don’t need more cannon fodder or more parishioners. We don’t need more poor babies.”

Despite his claim to a liberal philosophy, Mr. Weddington argues that drastic action was needed by the government to curb poverty programs: “Twenty-six million food stamp recipients is more than the economy can stand.”

This Nazi philosophy may or may not have motivated Clinton. However, he issued orders to the FDA within three days of taking office to market RU-486.

Abortuary Shut Down by State Officials

The Alabama Health Department has shut down an abortion clinic after finding that many women received illegal abortions at the hands of unqualified practitioners. Alabama law, like Idaho, requires abortions to be performed only by licensed medical doctors. They found that 4-of-10 patients interviewed underwent abortions without a doctor being present.

They also discovered that women were being given RU-486 without ultrasound tests to determine the age of the prenatal child. One woman turned out to be six months pregnant, and had to go to an emergency room with life-threatening blood pressure. She delivered a dead, six pound baby.

This is a blatant violation of federal rules surrounding the use of the abortion drug.

So why do we care? The case convincingly demonstrates that abortion is a business – not a matter of protecting women’s health.
